In Arippa Hamlet, recurring water scarcity had long affected daily life for tribal families. Limited and unreliable access to water made it difficult to meet basic needs such as drinking, household use, and small-scale agriculture, placing constant strain on livelihoods in this upland region.
To address this challenge, Thanal Trust, with support from RWDI through its CSR programme, initiated a Water Resource Development intervention in Arippa Hamlet.
The project focused on creating durable water infrastructure, including the installation of a borewell and pump house, designed to improve long-term access to water for the community.
With the new infrastructure in place:
- Water availability has improved for daily household needs
- Access to water for small-scale agriculture has strengthened
- Dependence on uncertain or distant water sources has reduced
The intervention supports around 20 tribal families, helping stabilise livelihoods and reduce vulnerability to seasonal water stress.
Impact & Benefits
- Improved access to reliable water sources
- Enhanced agricultural resilience at the household level
- Reduced hardship linked to water scarcity
- Strengthened community well-being through shared infrastructure
The water resource development facilities in Arippa are operational and nearing full stabilisation, with the borewell and pump house functioning to sustainably support local water needs.
