In 2023, as part of its sustainable livelihood initiatives, we established a Tribal Hub along the Sabarimala pilgrimage route. This center served as a vital stop for devotees, offering diverse food options, locally sourced forest products, and handmade goods crafted by local Self-Help Groups (SHGs).
By blending essential pilgrimage amenities with the region’s cultural heritage, the hub did more than generate income—it fostered a meaningful connection between travelers and the local community. The initiative proved to be a significant success, generating ₹50,000 by December and demonstrating how social responsibility can be seamlessly integrated into sustainable business practices.
Key Highlights of the Initiative:
- Strategic Location: Placed along the high-traffic Sabarimala route to maximize visibility and reach.
- Empowerment: Provides a platform for local artisans and Self-Help Groups (SHGs) to showcase and sell their crafts.
- Sustainability: Focuses on forest-based products that respect and honor the sacred natural environment.
- Economic Impact: Achieved impressive growth and exceeded expectations within its first year of operation.
